White Pine
White Pine is a 12-foot high sculpture set in the main foyer of Rockcliffe Middle School. Grade 6, 7, and 8 students laminated and then carved recycled corrugated cardboard constructed individual branches. As part of the project the students learned about the ecology of the White pine, its importance in Canada’s history and its often frequent depiction by the Group of Seven.
Arts For Children, a community outreach program based at Avenue Road Arts School, commissioned this project. Financial support by HSBC.
