Landscapes
Landscapes were the result of my first exploration with rammed earth.
The challenge I faced was an issue of scale: how to make pieces small
enough (e.g. light enough to move), for exhibition installation while
maintaining the characteristic of the material to evoke imagery of landscapes
and geologic strata, large spaces and long time frames.
To create the 'Landscapes', I used the landform-like pattern
of fruit and vegetable trays to mould the surface of the box-like rammed
earth forms, linking the notion of geologic time and transformation with
the moulding of our land by agriculture industry.
