Erosion

This piece was inspired by a statement made by one of my professors.
He was making the point that despite our tendency to separate cities
from nature, “cities are ecosystems too.”
In creating 'Erosion,' water was dripped onto a concrete-like slab set
on top of a culvert to illustrate that although cities by large are made
up concrete, the gentle, beautiful, and seemingly benign water drop (or
rain drop), is also very powerful.
Erosion was also influenced by my fascination with erosion and the use
of water to create a new pattern and texture from an initially smooth
surface. Using water added a dynamic and uncertain element to the work.
